Viking / Slavic Round Shield Pendant – Handmade in Silver

This handcrafted pendant is based on openwork round shield motifs found in early medieval Viking and Slavic territories. The design follows 9th–10th century bronze pendants, recreated here in silver with a clean, flat profile typical of the original artifacts.

Each pendant is individually cast and hand-finished using traditional methods. The openwork structure reflects styles common in Scandinavian and Eastern European metalwork of the period, where geometric layouts and cross-like divisions were often used.

Some interpretations suggest that this type of pendant may relate to early Christian symbolism. However, many scholars and reenactors view it as a stylized Viking round shield, an important protective motif in warrior culture. This replica follows that viewpoint and retains the proportions seen in known archaeological examples.
