About the Design
The original Sutton Hoo sword dates to the early 7th century and was recovered from the famous ship burial at Sutton Hoo, Suffolk, England. The weapon reflects high-status craftsmanship of the Migration Era, combining functional blade geometry with elaborate hilt decoration.
The historical sword featured cloisonné garnet inlays set into the pommel and guard. This replica reproduces that visual effect through red enamel detailing while maintaining the characteristic proportions of early Anglo-Saxon swords, including a broad blade and compact grip. The included scabbard reflects the wooden-and-leather sheathing typical of early medieval edged weapons.
