The only historically proven runic Mjölnir amulet, recreated by hand from the 10th-century Danish find
The Only Runic Thor’s Hammer Ever Found – Now Recreated by Hand
In 2014, a unique 10th-century Thor’s hammer amulet was discovered on the Danish island of Lolland. Unlike more than 1,000 known Mjölnir pendants, this one carries a runic inscription reading “Hmar x is” — “This is a hammer.”
It is the only Thor’s hammer in the Viking world that explicitly names itself.
This small bronze amulet finally confirmed that these pendants truly represent Mjölnir, ending a long debate about their meaning and form.
At AlgizRune Art, we created a historically accurate replica based on this find, using a hand-carved beeswax model and traditional casting. The original’s small scale and compact three-dimensional form are preserved, making it one of the closest replicas of a Viking Age amulet available today.
For collectors, reenactors, and LARP practitioners who value documented artefacts — this is not a fantasy symbol, but a proven historical one.
Available in the LostRavn Fashion Collection.
