Main Description
This pendant follows the form of a Roman coin, with a profile portrait and surrounding inscription. The surface is intentionally uneven, with softened edges and a slightly worn finish, closer to how historical coins appear after long use.
Roman coins travelled widely across Europe and continued to circulate into the early medieval period. Archaeological finds from Viking Age contexts show that many of these coins were repurposed as pendants, often with added loops or modifications for suspension.
Each piece is cast in silver and finished by hand, so detail and texture vary slightly.
About the Design
Roman coins are commonly found in Viking hoards across Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. Many show clear signs of reuse as jewellery, reflecting their value as both silver and personal objects.
