Hand-carved bone pendant inspired by an early Scandinavian warrior amulet from Uppland, Sweden
This pendant is inspired by a historical bronze amulet discovered in Uppland, Sweden (grave number 16), often interpreted as depicting Odin as a warrior figure. Similar pendants are dated to the late Iron Age or Vendel Period and show a standing figure holding a sword and two arrows or spears.
Such simplified warrior depictions appear in early Scandinavian metalwork and ritual objects, where meaning was conveyed through repeated forms and symbolic attributes rather than detailed realism. The helmet, weapon set, and upright posture reflect the visual language used in early Northern European art before the Viking Age.
This version is carved entirely by hand from natural cattle bone. The surface is polished while preserving subtle variation in tone and texture, giving each pendant its own character. The form remains compact and balanced, suitable for everyday wear or historical use.
