About the Design
The central motif draws inspiration from Viking Age runestones, where serpents and intertwined creatures often frame inscriptions. In Norse mythology, Jörmungandr is the Midgard serpent, a figure frequently interpreted through later literary sources and reflected visually in Scandinavian stone carving traditions.
This pendant presents the serpent in a compact circular composition, with a surrounding band of runic-style marks referencing the visual structure of historical runestone layouts. The carved lines are darkened to enhance contrast while maintaining the natural surface and edge of the antler slice.
Each piece varies slightly in grain and contour due to the organic material.
