This Knight follows the form of the medieval chess pieces known as the Lewis Chessmen, dated to the late 12th–early 13th century and associated with Norse-influenced craftsmanship.

The figure is carved from naturally shed moose antler, a dense material that allows for fine detail and a solid feel. The posture and proportions reflect the original type, with a simplified but recognisable rider form.

Each piece is carved by hand, so tool marks and small variations remain visible. The surface develops a natural tone depending on the section of antler used. Suitable for use in a full set or as a single display piece.

Variations in colour, grain, and detail are expected due to the natural material and hand carving.

About the Design
The Lewis Chessmen were discovered on the Isle of Lewis in 1831 and are among the best-known medieval chess finds in Europe. They are generally dated to the late 12th–early 13th century and linked to Norse cultural influence.
