Carved from linden wood chosen for its fine, even grain and predictable carving behaviour. After shaping, the surface is treated with linseed oil and wax, which sinks into the wood and leaves it open rather than sealed. The texture remains visible and slightly warm, with a soft matte finish.

Baldur appears in Norse mythology as one of the Æsir and a son of Odin and Frigg. He is described in the Poetic Edda and Prose Edda as a god associated with light, purity, and peace. In the mythological narratives, Baldur is known for his beauty and fairness, and for the sense of calm and harmony surrounding him among the gods.

The most widely known story connected to Baldur is his death, caused by Loki’s trick and the mistletoe spear. This event is often interpreted in scholarship as a turning point in Norse cosmology, linked to themes of fate, fragility, and the coming of Ragnarök.

The figure is kept visually simple, with attention to form and silhouette rather than ornament. The wood grain remains part of the surface, shifting gently in different light from pale matte tones to deeper warm shades.

Each statue is carved individually, so variations in grain direction, carving marks, and proportions are natural and expected.
