About the Design

This torque follows a Gotland-style Viking neck ring form associated with high-status dress during the Viking Age. Twisted torques with animal head terminals appear in archaeological finds across Scandinavia and were worn as visible markers of rank or affiliation. Wolf forms are characteristic of Viking animal art, frequently used in metalwork for both decorative and symbolic purposes. The substantial weight and rigid structure give the piece a grounded presence while remaining wearable.
